This body of work is about the light and shade in life - loss & betrayal, acceptance & love. My paintings are layered labours of love; opaque areas of paint, patterns and lines all dance in and around each other as the paintings come to life.
Pattern, colour and composition all work together to present a snippet of an emotional narrative in the floating worlds Beth creates. Each of her paintings is the result of a sustained process of transcription: from sketches, to watercolour, to paint on canvas.
